Writing about leadership and communication in this hyperconnected world

About Me

I am an educator, writer, and Ph.D. candidate who wants to share what I have learned or am researching.

My research interests are cross-cultural leadership and communication, language learning and acquisition, and Cultural Intelligence (CQ).

I have taught English, and various offshoots, in the US and abroad since 2009, and this blog includes posts made for my students that include information about education, writing, and working towards a degree.

Something that came out of my time teaching English abroad was realizing that just because someone learns English, it doesn't mean that he or she will be successful in cross-cultural communication. There are a lot of nuances that go into communicating with diverse teams.

Business schools teach a lot about business mechanics, but they don't focus on what it really takes to be a global leader.

Why this blog exists

My mission is to bring you content each week that discusses the best leadership and communication practices while showcasing the education that is key to becoming who you want to be.

The cornerstones of my philosophy are

  1. Leaders are made through hard work, education, and bravery to try
  2. Communication is essential in human relationships and processes
  3. Education is not just the foundation but the entire structure

Current Projects

I'm pursuing a PhD in Global Leadership and Change, which is taking much of my time. If I lag in posting, it is because I'm buried in my research.

Currently, I teach courses at Central Ohio Technical College, Tiffin University, and Western Governors University. Courses that I teach include Composition, Communications, Critical Thinking, College Reading, Technical Writing, Middle Eastern Culture, Global Leadership, and Literature Courses.

I am building out the open-source material on my website for those who want to learn more.

I am writing this blog tackling the challenges of leading in this hyperconnected world.
